FLYING IS FUN.

YOU SHOULD TRY IT WITH YOUR EYES OPEN!

What's That Noise?

Descent: "Speedbrake Rumble"

We don't use the speedbrake all the time... there are other ways of slowing the plane down that we prefer... but sometimes we will use it for a short period.

Why?

The speedbrake helps us to fly a steeper descent path, which we may need to do if the winds are blowing us toward the destination airport during our descent. If we did nothing we'd be TOO HIGH when we get to our destination. So, we make the rumble.

The next strange sound you might hear is that "Whir Clu-Clunk" again...

The speedbrake lacks
style but is very useful
in some circumstances.
