What's That Noise?
Takeoff: "Quiet Roar, then Loud Roar"
Jet engines are fabulous things... they produce HEAPS of power and we love them.
When the we line up on the runway and get our clearance to takeoff from the control tower you will hear the engine sounds get louder.
What will normally happen is we will put the engines at MEDIUM power first, for a couple of seconds, to check that everything is working properly, and then apply FULL POWER.
That is why you will hear the engines increase in sound a bit, followed by a big increase in sound as we give them the juice.
